Australia Visa Types & which I can Apply?


There are many types of visas in Australia. Even if you are also a Visitor Visa, the Visa category will be different for people with different passports. There are various types of Australian tourist visas for travel, family visits, business trips or short-term courses within 3 months:


Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) [ ETA e-visa , or e-tourism permit]: 

At present, only 34 kinds of passports can apply for this Visa, including Hong Kong SAR passport , Taiwan passport , British (overseas) passport (BNO), Portuguese passport, Singapore passport, Malaysian passport, Japanese passport, Korean passport, US passport, British passport, Canadian passports, etc., Macao SAR passports and Chinese passports are not eligible for ETA e-visa . 
The procedure for applying for an ETA is much simpler than applying for a 600-class tourist visa. You only need to fill in the basic information. You do not need to submit the supporting documents, and you do not need to collect the visa fee (but the online application requires AUD20 service fee, which may be handled through an agent. It will be more expensive. The approval time is also much shorter. Many can be approved immediately, and the long one will not exceed one day. However, not all passport holders who are eligible to apply for ETA can apply online. Currently, only 8 passport holders can apply for ETA online, including HKSAR passport, Singapore passport, Malaysian passport, Japanese passport, Korean passport, US passports, Canadian passports and Brunei passports, other passports need to go to the Australian consulate or apply through an approved travel agency.

Note 1: The ETA e-visa is valid for one year, that is, it must be entered within one year from the date of issue. It can be entered multiple times during the validity period, but the maximum stay is 3 months. If there is a criminal record, you can apply. ETA.
Note 2: Although Taiwanese passports are eligible to apply for ETA e-visa, they cannot apply online and can only apply through approved travel agencies.

eVisitor (subclass 651):

If you have a European passport (such as a Portuguese passport), you can apply for a simpler eVisitor visa. Only need to fill out a simple application eVisitor information required to submit supporting documents, and free of charge (visa fees and service charges are not required), usually on the 2nd granted within.

Note: UK (Overseas) Passport (BNO) cannot apply for eVisitor.
